OUR MISSION Since the arrival of the first immigrants in the 1800s, the United States has been recognized as "the land of opportunity" and as a nation founded on the hard work of immigrants from all over the world. In the words of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, "We have always believed it possible for men and women who start at the bottom to rise as far as their talent and energy allow. Neither race nor place of birth should affect their chances." Today, centuries later, immigrants continue to come to the United States in search of a brighter and more promising future. However, for many New Americans, adjusting and acclimating to the language, culture, and way of life in the United States can get in the way of pursuing their dream. The mission of The New Americans of New Jersey Inc. (NANJ) is to enable immigrants and their families gain financial independence and become contributing members of American society by providing support, resources, guidance, and educational opportunities.
